Patrolman Dennis Schweigert
Ptl Dennis Schweigert has been a reserve officer with
the Union City, IN Police Department since 2002.  Ptl
Schweigert was hired as full time Ordinance/Animal
Control Officer in January 2003 and has been serving
in that position since.  Ptl Schweigert's duties include
enforcement of all City Ordinances.  He is also the
Animal Control Officer for the city which includes
picking up stray animals, wild animals, and
enforcement of City Ordinances pertaining to animals
within the City Limits.  Ptl Schweigert maintains the City
Kennel, which is located at the Union City Wastewater
plant.  Other duties that Ptl Schweigert performs for
the Department include Vehicle Maintenance Officer,
Court Baliff and Security Officer for sports activities at
the High School.  Ptl Schweigert is State Certified in
Animal Euthanasia, has completed training courses in
DWI Detection and Field Sobriety Testing, Pedestrian
Crash Investigation, Emergency Medical Dispatch, and
Advanced Taser Certification. He is also a member of
the National Animal Control Association.
