| Deputy Chief Bernhard has worked for Union City since 1991. Deputy Chief Bernhard also served honorably in the US Army from 1979 to 1982, stationed in Ft Riley, KS as a Military Police Officer. Deputy Chief Bernhard has worked for Lynn, IN PD, Muncie, IN PD and Delaware State Department of Corrections. Deputy Chief Bernhard is a certified Field Training Officer and is the departments training officer. Deputy Chief Bernhard is a certified instructor in Firearms, Use of Force, Less than Lethal Force, STOPS, Patrol Rifle/Shotgun Instructor and Domestic Violence. Deputy Chief Bernhard is a trained negotiator and is the departments negotiator during crisis and hostage intervention. Deputy Chief Bernhard is also a state certified EMT. Deputy Chief Bernhard was presented an award in October of 2003 for recognition and appreciation for outstanding service to victims of domestic violence from the Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence. |
